Five Amazonian Manatees released back into the wild
Laura Zavala labels blood drawn from a manatee as part of her thesis project at Centro de Rescate Amazónico two days before the manatee is realeased into the wild. Centro de Rescate Amazónico near Iquitos, Perú, released five endangered Amazonian Manatees back into their habitat in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve after about three years of rehabilitating the rescued mammals. It was the first release in Perú.
