Hoor*, 16, arrived in Istanbul in late June, after being smuggled from Kunduz, Afghanistan, where her uncle had plans to marry her to a much older man. Hoor says her faith has given her strength during difficult days in her life. "Prayer helped me to continue my life," she says. "I wanted to kill myself so much." She is now living at a state-run orphanage and in the process of getting her Turkish residency.
