Info

Hoor*, 16, arrived in Istanbul in late June, after being smuggled from Kunduz, Afghanistan, where her uncle had plans to marry her to a much older man. This Afghan dress, made by her mother and given to her as as an early Eid al-Fitr gift, is one of the few things she brought with her on the journey. She last saw her mother a week before she left Afghanistan. When she misses her mother, she holds the dress to her face and tries to find traces of her scent. She is now living at a state-run orphanage and in the process of getting her Turkish residency.
