Hoor*, 16, arrived in Istanbul in late June, after being smuggled from Kunduz, Afghanistan, where her uncle had plans to marry her to a much older man. After arriving in Istanbul, she was raped. She is now living at a state-run orphanage and in the process of getting her Turkish residency. Hoor saw the sea for the first time in Istanbul. When she looks at it, she says she feels calm and comforted.
