Five Amazonian Manatees released back into the wild

Children from the Manco Capac community peek at the two manatees waiting to be returned to their habitat. They were temporarily put into a small wooden holding tank lined in plastic. Centro de Rescate Amazónico near Iquitos, Perú, released five endangered Amazonian Manatees back into their habitat in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve after about three years of rehabilitating the rescued mammals. It was the first release in Perú.
